If you’ve followed AM+Co for any amount of time, you know that we love using blush, neutrals, and pale, light colors in our designs. Naturally, because of our vibe, brides who lean towards these hues are often drawn to work with us. That’s why we were excited to do Alex and Jackie’s wedding! They chose black and white, so we had the opportunity to work in a color scheme that was not our usual, but so fun! It pushed us out of our light-color comfort zone in the best of ways. We loved creating a look for their wedding that was clean, simple, and modern.
Blue Ribbon Weddings brought us on to do this entire wedding, top to bottom, from invitations all the way to signage and paper goods for the day of. Theirs is another example of the power of a branded wedding experience. Every element was done by us, which means that every detail was perfectly coordinated with the next to show one, cohesive look.
We started with the invitations, which were printed with a blind deboss and letterpress in black. (Take note of that deboss – you’ll see that echoed in other details to come!) We topped the suites with a black acrylic monogram. The envelope liner held a custom black and white illustration of their venue, Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. I love doing venue illustrations because they add that extra touch of class and expectation of what your guests will experience on the wedding day.
The guests who were staying in the hotel block received an amazing welcome box in their rooms. This box included some refreshments, schedules for the weekend, and a hangover kit (because as the kit says, hangovers only last a day, but memories are forever). Peep the water bottles with the monogram we created – what a way to set the tone for the weekend!
The Spanish-inspired rehearsal dinner made a distinctive departure from the black and white theme of the wedding. It was decorated with colorful florals, wicker, and wood elements. The elements on the invitations we created carried through to the tiniest details on the cutting boards, which we custom-engraved for a rustic look.
Usually, the first signs that greet guests are our sign structures, but this wedding was different! A flag with the couple’s monogram we designed flew high above the country club as guests drove into the venue.
As the guests approached the guest book table, they could grab a program and drop off their gift in the monogrammed crisp, white gift box with acrylic lettering.
Jackie & Alex’s welcome sign featured smoky dark acrylic (talk about a smoke show!). We featured our new chunky black flower box bases both there and in the seating chart. Both signs showcased the hand-drawn flower pattern that was debossed on their invitations.
One of the most touching parts of the wedding was when the bride and her father drove up in a yellow Porsche that belonged to her late grandmother. My mom and I hid behind a bush in tears, watching as he got out of the car, helped her out, fluffed her dress, and then walked her down the aisle. This was such a beautiful and tender moment that reminded me why we do what we do!
We used an illustration of the yellow Porsche as a motif in their napkins and drink stirrers as a way to create some whimsy and hint of sentimentality.
After the gorgeous ceremony, it was time for the reception! The blind deboss made an appearance on their menus, as did a custom wax seal. The dessert flags added a cute touch to the sweet ending to the meal.
After partying through the night, Jackie and Alex offered their guests late-night snacks of burgers and fries. We created flags and custom fry boxes as a cherry on top of what was a beautiful weekend celebrating their love!
We worked with some incredible vendors that we want to acknowledge and thank for their amazing work:
